Beginner Guitar Instructions: Acoustic or Electric Guitar Lessons

By Tommy Beltrani

It's quite interesting to notice how guitar students have often the same questions when starting to play the instrument. In almost two decades I had literally thousands of people asking me the same questions over and over again. What I often do nowadays I just predict the question and give the answer even before they ask, to their amusement off course. This is my chance to clarify a few important issue. By far the most common question is whether to start with electric or acoustic guitar lessons and my answer to that is always the same: Acoustic guitar! these are my reasons why:

Acoustic guitars are loud enough and you don't need any amps or pedals you would normally need if you play electric. That will save you quite a bit of money you could invest in online guitar lessons or even a better guitar.

When you play electric guitar you often use more advanced techniques like string bending and tremolo bar, while if you start with acoustic guitar lessons you are more inclined to practice basic techniques like strumming, chords changes and fingerpicking. It's so important to lay down a proper foundation and therefore to start with the basics.

Playing pop songs sounds more authentic on acoustic guitar and it will definitely inspire you to play even more simply because it sounds so good.

Because there's no need for an amp, an acoustic guitar is much easier to take wherever you go: camps, school, friends house etc.

Starting on an acoustic guitar will make your hands stronger because it's a bit harder to press than on an electric guitar. This is a good start to your training.

I hope you get my point by now why you should start with acoustic guitar lessons. Another very common question is whether to use a steel or a nylon string guitar and in my professional opinion they are both okay fine to start with. A gear junky like me would actually buy them both but if you are starting out you might just want to make a decision based on the kind of sound you are after. If you like classical, bossa nova, spanish music then a nylon string will help you nail the sound while for country, pop, rock a steel string is what you need.

Once you can play without problems on an acoustic guitar you can start thinking about moving on to electric.

Learn to play guitar is a very rewarding pastimes and be reassured that the effort you put in will definitely pay off in due time. There's a certain level of practice required to see results, no matter what level you want to play at. So practice, practice, practice and remember at all times to have fun. - 18423

Are All Mp3 Earphones The Same?

By Sharonna Shelby

The Ipod is a great MP3 player but the earphones it comes with are not. If you wear them for any extended length of time you will agree they start to hurt. You need to find the best earphones out there and there are a lot to choose from.

If you fly a lot in airplanes, you might have seen people using noise-canceling headphones. This type of headphone makes any trip more enjoyable as you don't have to listen to the constant droning of the airplane engines. They give you great sound quality too, but they are rather expensive. Most people just opt to use regular earphones with their iPod and this is whether they are flying or not.

If you do want to get a better pair of earphones, you need to figure out how much you are willing to spend. You also have to figure out what is most important to you: comfort or sound? To some people, the best sound is all that matters and they are seeking earphones that give them that quality. To others, they might be willing to sacrifice a little sound quality if they could find earphones that feel exactly right in their ears. Finding that perfect set of earphones though, might be difficult.

If you are trying to find the best sound, you might have to spend quite a bit for it. Earphones can run from about $15.00 at their cheapest all the way up to a couple hundred dollars. The cheaper models of earphones probably don't give you too much comfort or sound quality so you need to be prepared to pay for something that cost a little more.

Like with most other things, the best choices are probably in the middle of those two prices. You certainly don't have to spend $400 to get a quality pair of earphones but if you have the money and truly want the best, they are there for you. Most people will probably settle on a pair priced between $20 and $100 and that is more than good enough. - 18423
