Celebrity Standard Ovation Left Hand Guitar

By Zane J Freeman

For a start, the Ovation Celebrity Standard left handed acoustic/electric guitar is good with the honey burst finish. For aesthetic purposes, it is absolutely beautiful with a bright orange/yellow color at the center and a darkening fill to a red on the sides.

The first thing one notices on the Ovation left handed guitar is the absence of a pick guard. If you have a lot of movements on your pick attack, you could end up damaging the beautiful finish around the area of the string. If you would not like to cover up that lovely finish, you can either alter your picking technique or select another instrument with a pick guard.

With clear, precise tone and solid tuning keys, it ensures you stay in tune with the sound of an Ovation left handed acoustic guitar which is second to none. Very solid and easy to restring each time, the bridge is designed so the strings are pulled through from the bottom.

Negative: Because of over stretching, the strings can cause the body to warp or crack over time with no adjustments. While the amplification works wonderfully (I have played mine with a distortion pedal! wow!), it also includes an equalizer that allows you to sculpt your sound to a tee. Ovation electronics are hard to beat in their acoustic/electric lines. It sounds like an acoustic still retaining its acoustic characteristics. When attached to an amplifier, this left handed guitar can easily imitate the best of any electronic guitar.

Negative: The amplification modules take a 9 volt battery. The modules can be hard to open and they like to eat those batteries. Unplugging the cord helps save the battery, but I would carry a spare!

Like all Ovation guitars, the Ovation left handed guitar, has a rounded back. When playing in a seated position, some players complain that it slides off. A good strap or daily practice can easily remedy this problem. For it is that rounded plastic back that gives Ovations their unique sound.

With a slim neck, the Ovation left handed acoustic guitars are thinner than almost any acoustic you will have ever play with. It is easy to play, just like you would your axe and lay down yourself to a chunky rhythm line. With practice you will get used to, but it is well worth it.

Do note, a portion of players have complained that the action is too high on this guitar. As a matter of preference with any player, you can always have the neck adjusted to lower the strings action. You have No reason not to buy this model! For playability, affordability, versatility and quality, the Ovation left handed guitar is right on target as a starter for left handed instruments. I highly recommend them as I am an owner myself (Ovation Celebrity Performer series). There is really is no better choice than one of these Ovations guitar. - 18423

The Best Xbox 360 Games

By Larry Moon

Microsoft has been known to try and stay a bit above, and ahead of the market when it comes to your gaming needs. The XBOX 360 has some of the most innovative and advanced games on the market today. However, finding one that fits your needs in gaming can be tricky. The reason that it is hard is because of the amount of games that pour in to retail stores weekly. New games can be somewhat expensive, most costing upwards of $60, so some of the titles listed here will give a good idea of the variety, and best for your money games out there.

One of the top games last year based on reviews from very well known gaming sites was Fallout 3. Fallout 3 was developed by the same company that made Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and is an engrossing action role-playing game with post World War II setting. The Character levelling system, unreal graphics, and open-ended game play earned Fallout 3 some of the highest marks last year from reviewing sites. So if you were an Elder Scrolls IV fan you will definitely be a fan of Fallout 3.

Another great open-ended game is Grand Theft Auto IV which has been one of the most highly anticipated games for 2008. It has won several "Game of the Year" awards for its lasting gameplay and excellent presentation. Xbox 360 owners are lucky that they can enjoy more of the game by downloading additional episodes from Xbox Live. Currently there is one extra episode with a second one to be released later this year.

There are not a whole lot of games that keep you on the edge of your seat anymore with the "Scary" title. Dead Space was listed last year as the "World's Scariest Game". It's a very dark and thrilling game that is a third-person shooter, leaving no room to be bored.

There are also third-person shooters that are not as scary, but just as good with Gears of War 2 being one of the best. Not only is the single player experience good, but the multiplayer feature allows you to play with 9 others. Gears of War 2 also won a few awards as well making this a must-have in your game collection.

Action-packed games do not have to be 3-D and bloody and Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 proves it. This Xbox Live Arcade shooter was greatly praised by critics for the different modes to choose from. It is much better than its predecessor and some consider it as the best Xbox Live Arcade game during the time of its release. Because it is an Xbox Live Arcade title, it is a lot cheaper than the other games mentioned.

Another great Xbox Live Arcade game is Braid which is more of a puzzle game. In fact it is one of the more innovative games that are really worth playing no matter how old you are. The challenge is just right, the story really sucks you in, and the musical score is fantastic. Although this is much more expensive than most Xbox Live games, it should definitely be a part of your gaming collection.

Choosing a title can be hard if you really are unaware of what to look for in a game. Make sure that you do some extensive research on the gaming titles out there to see which ones fit you so that you get the most for your money. - 18423

How To Play The Guitar - What You Should Know To Play The Guitar

By Daniel Strongly

There's actually a song called "Anybody Can Play Guitar." This more or less says it: most folks can learn a few scales or chords, and in a few weeks they'll be strumming along with their chums. Yet if you really want guitar mastery, you'll need practice, practice. A quick starter's guide for beginning guitarist follows.

You should be aware that in the beginning, playing guitar will hurt. When I was in the eighth grade and started playing guitar, my fingertips got so raw they actually started bleeding. This is common. Your hand muscles will also be sore, just like any muscle that you work out for the first time.

Practicing as often as possible will get calluses on your fingers and a pump on your hand muscles. When you get over this hump, you'll already be decent at navigating the fretboard; you may already know or have written some songs. I'm not particularly gifted, but I could play within six weeks. Many learn even faster.

During these weeks, master tuning your guitar and the strings. Learn the most useful scales shapes. Start with the pentatonic, then the major and scales. You'll be getting those muscles and calluses while learning how the notes on the fretboard relate. You'll see the guitar in a new way, and you'll get the most useful music theory.

Alongside these scales, also learn the chords. You should know the open chords, and the major, minor and dominant seventh shapes all over the fretboard. Get to where you can change chords smoothly. I was frustrated with all that when I started, but push through and you'll have it down in two or three weeks, tops.

After all these basics, master your favorite songs. The basic twelve bar blues structure is the foundation of tons of songs-you're more than capable of this one. Get down the chord changes on these songs, and either pick out by ear or by tab all the notes in the track so you can play along.

This will teach you the basics of how songs are built and written using the songs most important to you. Guitars aren't playthings: they are machines used to express emotion and artistry. Go from playing your favorite songs composed by strangers to trying your hand at writing something these and other strangers might love too.

When one learns how to play guitar, one learns something mystical. Mastering pain, your body obeys your will. Chords, scales and their shapes make songs you love come out of your hands. Soon the same hands and guitar will write something that can be translated into any tongue: music. This is a magical power, one which you can have in no time at all. - 18423
