An Accepted American Writer's Writings That Were Turned Into Movies

By Jeffery B Marshall

One of America's most dearly loved authors is John Grisham. Since 1989, his books have sold over 250 million copies worldwide. He has written 17 legal fiction books with a new legal fiction due out in November 2009, 4 non-legal fiction works and one non-fiction story. There have been 10 films made from his works so far with an additional expected in 2012.

His second tale, "The Firm", was the earliest story to be made into a show back in 1993. In this motion picture, starring Tom Cruise, Jeanne Tripplehorn and Gene Hackman, a young Harvard Law School graduate begins working at a rather devious Memphis law firm. In that same year of 1993, a second John Grisham story to motion picture came out, "The Pelican Brief" starring Julia Roberts and Denzel Washington.

In 1994, "The Client" was released. In this movie a little boy by accident witnesses a suicide and he is as a result chased by the mafia for what they think the dying man may have confided in him. "The Client" starred Susan Sarandon, Tommy Lee Jones and the late Brad Renfro.

Grisham's very first novel, and some may say his best tale, was "A Time To Kill". This book was made into a film in 1996 and it introduced an up and coming new performer in the lead role, Matthew McConaughey. It also starred Sandra Bullock, Samuel L. Jackson and Kevin Spacey. Also from the year 1996 was "The Chamber" starring Chris O'Donnell, Gene Hackman and Faye Dunaway.

Matt Damon took the lead role in "The Rainmaker" in 1997. He played a rookie lawyer who takes on a influential insurance company on behalf of a boy turned down for medical treatment. In 1998, "The Gingerbread Man" starring Kenneth Branagh and Robert Downey, Jr. came out. This is the only Grisham picture that you will not be able to find as a novel because it came from an non published manuscript.

2 of the non-legal fiction books by Grisham have also been made into films. "A Painted House" came out in 2003 and in 2004, the holiday favorite, "Christmas with the Kranks", starring Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis, based upon the story "Skipping Christmas".

"The Runaway Jury" starring Dustin Hoffman, Gene Hackman, John Cusack and Rachel Weisz was released in 2003. The next show is intended for release in the year 2012. It is "The Associate", which was released as a book in January 2009.

Grisham has beyond doubt been one of the most famous and prolific authors in the recent past. With twenty-two stories out and another planned for November 2009, 10 movies and an additional considered for 2012, he has never failed to entertain us. If you happened to overlook any of these celebrated movies you can now download them at once to your computer to view right away on your computer, TV or even your iPhone. - 18423

Compare House Hold Cable To Satellite TV

By Casy Wigwire

Once upon a time when it came to television there was little to think about. Go to your corner electronics store, buy the hottest new set and call the cable company. Those days are gone. Now we have so much more to consider. What we watch and what we want to spend play vital roles. Not far behind is quality of programming, the wave of the future. You have to ponder between satellite and cable, whether you have access to a satellite signal and which satellite company is best for you. How have things been with your current provider? Perhaps things are good but you are ready for a change. You want to see if the grass really is greener on the other side. Start with the facts about programming in the modern age before making any major moves. This will make that change less risky and more rewarding.

So which is best, satellite or cable television? Let's put it this way. The only issue with cable you might have is with the neighborhood channels you possess, such as the local news. Everything else is taken to a new level with satellite. Way more channels for a price that cable can't touch. Satellite companies have each other to deal with and are all across the country. Local companies have less in their way. If you want the best value, you have to go with satellite. It is also much easier to select your programming with satellite companies. In most cases there are large channel packages offered. You have to decide between 100 or 200 channels, pretty easy. Local channels sometimes entice you to buy a certain group of channels when all you want is just one. If that isn't enough, there is way more HD channels offered with satellite than with cable as well. This is the future of programming. You can see that with all the new screens on the market today.

Satellite still has more to give. There is a bus load of music channels for us to listen to. There is the incredible picture you get, 100% digital throughout. Cable usually offers only some digital channels. Finally there is HD programming. Satellite offers way more HD for you. This is the way television is going, period. You can see that when you shop for television screens these days. Of course weather can affect the signal from time to time. That reason alone isn't enough to bypass the satellite option.

In the satellite industry there are two big sluggers that will cater to your every request, Dish Network and Directv. Both will show you customer service each and every time. Service is likely the largest reason cable loses customers to satellite every year. They usually don't compare. In the battle between them consider two major things. One, Directv may offer a better rate for 200 channels than Dish. The other is HD programming, the vision of the future. Directv offers more channels at a better price. This separates them as the market leader.

In the end both companies will make changes in an effort to better serve you. Consider what promotion is offered at the time you are ready to make the switch. With Directv right now you can get free installation and free equipment. In an age when television has evolved, satellite has emerged as the best for all our programming needs and Directv has got just a little bit more to offer. It's yours to consider. - 18423

Getting A New Band Started

By Danny Reade

Joining a band could be really a challenge for each musician or group of musicians that are planning to have a band. I am currently part of a jazz quartet named "jazzology" and the way I made this band was talking with some friend that often we have been practicing and rehearsing since several months ago.

I personally recommend that the best way you can start joining a band is firstly determining the kind of music you are able to do. If you don't have a clear vision of the type of music you are going to do it will be really difficult join a band.

Joining a band is something that requires of a leader who can have a clear vision of the past, the present (the things we currently have and the resources we have) and a vision of the future. This is basically the first thing you need before start calling people to be member of a band.

The second thing you need to start joining a band is looking for people that have passion for the music in the genre you want to make music. You should also determine if you are going to have commercial purpose or you just want joining a band for enjoy the music or only for practice your art and express what you are and the things you want.

I personally think that if you are planning that music is going to be your career, not your hobby, you are going to require a good advisory so that you band can last for a long time.

If you want to know more about this you only have to read about the story of those remarkable bands that are today legends as The Beatles and other important bands that are currently active in our days. - 18423
