Starting Out With Choosing A Guitar

By Brian Hughes

When you are buying a new guitar one of the most relevant things you should ask the seller or at least have in mind is what kind of music do you want to play with this new guitar.

Whether you want to play hard rock, heavy metal, country, jazz and everything in between, the most recommended is that you should start using an acoustic guitar. After you are comfortable with an acoustic, you will find playing the electric guitar much easier.

Absolutely anybody can start playing rock with an electric guitar with a terrific multi effects unit. But you should start using an acoustic guitar or even an electric acoustic guitar. The main difference between an electric acoustic guitar and a regular acoustic guitar is very simple, both guitars are acoustic, but the difference is that the electric one has electronics in it to be able to use it with an amp as well.

On the other hand between a classical and a regular acoustic guitar is a clear difference in the make of the strings. In the classical guitar, the string is manufactured by nylon which produces a more opaque and dull sound. A traditional acoustic guitar produces a more brilliant sound with steel or nickel strings.

Once you have determined the purpose you need a new guitar, the next step is comparing brands, quality and prices. There are several brands in the market but I always recommend that you try to find the best quality of the instrument you can afford.

Sometimes you are playing something and if you are a newbie or beginner performer you are going to think that the problem is your playing. Sometimes the instrument doesn't help you to move forward and this is the reason why you should choose a high quality instrument. - 18423

The World In Writing

By Robert M Petrie

Writing has always fascinated me, the reason is that we all have access to the same amount of words and after all there are only so many words. Yet there are so many different combinations to put all these words into that we all have the same opportunity to create a great Story or Poem.

If we do use the words that are available to us and create a book from them, who decides whether that book is any good or not. This is the the frustrating part of writing, because up till now it has been the Publishers that have decided whether or not your work, my work or any bodies work is right for the world to have access to and enjoy or not.

Think of all the great books that we haven't read because it was down to Publishers whether they got to print or not, how do they know what the public wants. Have they ever actually asked them.

The work of many individuals with different ideas have never been recieved by the many different people with their different tastes is something that should have changed long ago.

There can be much more material avialable for the public to enjoy thanks to the Internet. Because if you write it, you can Publish it and not have to rely on anyone else's opinion. You can get your work to the world.

To be a writer is an fantastic feeling, to express your views and make up your own world within a book. You can decide how your story develops, you make the decisions. I write and I enjoy it, my work is available for anyone who wants to read it. that is not to say it will be your kind of thing, but there may be some of you that enjoy it.

I hope that in the future more and more people use the Internet to let the world experience their own word creations. Say No to Publishers and Yes to choice. - 18423

The relationship between music, arithmetic, and genius.

By Jake Fullmoresonjohn

I recently read a book entitled simply: The Eight. It was a very intense book about how a certain chess service in the middle ages brought tremendous power to the owner of the chess service, but it also brought great despair and ruin to whomever possessed it for too long of a time period.

But the plot aside, this book conveyed a deep respect for music, numbers, and knowledge. Most musicly inclined people know that every eighth note on a piano equals an octave. Also, less people know that a chess board is 8 squares across and 8 squares deep, making 64 squares with which to move one's pieces on the board.

With that in mind, do you think it a coincidence that most of the great chess masters of our time grew up with very strict musical lessons? Bach, Mozart, and other classical musicians were not great chess masters, but they trained their minds using chess, and there are certain chess moves which correspond perfectly to some of the arrangements created by at least these 2 masters. Overall, the general impression that one should consider is that music is a very powerful medium that not only affects moods and tempers, it also trains the mind in certain subconscious ways in which regular listeners cannot discern unless trained in a musical instrument. What is your favorite past time? Hobby enthusiasts know that spare time is not to be "spent" but savored. If you have a past time you enjoy, you will never look at your spare time in the same way again. If you're not sure what past time hobby you would enjoy, here are some suggestions.

Many people listen to music as a favorite past time. There is much you can learn about any style of music. You can learn composers, famous melodies, and all about performers past and present. You can develop sophisticated tastes in jazz or classical music or collect a large assortment of CD's. Music makes a great past time hobby. - 18423

Learn How To Convert Mp3 Format To CD Format

By Susan Reynolds

MP3 files are the compressed WAV files. In other words, the high quality Wav files are reduced in size to create the MP3 format. MP3 files have some very interesting advantages to them, such as the small size and portability. It is possible to store over a hundred MP3 files into one CD ROM. The music quality is also kept intact. Although the MP3 files have so much on offer, you may still need to convert the MP3 files back to CD format. This is because many CD players do not identify the MP3 format, and hence do not play it. Most car CD players fail to play the MP3 format.

MP3 files, being the data files are easily played on any computer and CD player capable of recognizing them. The conversion of MP3 format to CD format requires decoding software. The decoding software specializes in converting the MP3 into wav format.

If you are lucky to have a CD writer installed on your PC, you may find it extremely easy to convert MP3 into CD. You need to look out for a utility that came wit your CD writer, capable of burning CD. In case you can not find the utility, you could browse through the CD that came with your writer and install it. Different utilities would have their own user interface. However, the following steps would help you convert MP3 into CD on most utilities.

Once you have installed and opened the utility, you should find a few options to begin with, such as data, audio, photo and video, backup, favorites, and extras. However, the option that says audio, or something similar to it is the one that should interest you. You need to click this option, and then you should find a dialog box that has an empty panel, and probably a button that says "Add? or may be "browse?. The window may have some more options, but you need to be clicking on the "Add? button. Once the "Add? button is clicked, you would be able to browse through the MP3 files you want to convert. As and when you add the files, an indicator would let you know how many more files you can add. The indicator could be a progress bar some thing else. Before the files are added to the empty panel, they are converted into the CD format by the application.

You may click the "Next? button available on the window. This will open up another window that prompts you for some more detail, such as the CD title and artist name. Once you have filled up the details you can click on the "Burn? or "Next? option given to you. This will initiate the burn process. It could take a few minutes for the burn process to complete. Once the burn process is completed, the utility will come up with an alert box to let you know the same.

With the above process, you will have completed your MP3 conversion to CD format. If you do not have a CD writer or the utility on you PC; you may look for a decoder on the internet and download it. Any decoder would also function on the similar lines. - 18423

How Does Piano Lesson Software Rate Against Personal Instruction?

By Michael Mickey Charles

The most common way to learn a new instrument is to sign up for lessons or hire an instructor. However, these days this is not your only option. More and more people are looking to find new ways to develop their musical talent, and some have found great success with piano lesson software.

A growing number of people are trying to find alternate ways to cultivate their aptitude for music and some of them have discovered that piano lesson software has helped them achieve success in this endeavour. A number of websites online are easily accessible and can be the most cost effective option in light of the fees that personal music instructors charge. However, economics is not the only advantageous feature of using piano lesson software to learn the instrument.

With this software, you do not have to follow anyone else's schedule when it comes to learning how to play piano. Everyone has their own way of learning and having to struggle with someone else's teaching schedule can be tough. With piano lesson software, you can learn at your own pace. You do not have to try and meet someone else's expectations, only yours. In addition, with the software, you can easily go back to a lesson you feel that requires more practice; with a private instructor, you likely don't have that luxury.

Besides, if you take a music class with other students, the need to review past material may hold others back. With the software, you can take the piano lessons at any time " day or night. You can review old material or even skip ahead if you are feeling ambitious. Being in control of your own learning curve when studying piano will make you even more determined to succeed.

Another thing to consider when considering piano lesson software versus an instructor is that the software can be used by anyone at any time. If someone else in your family or circle of friends wishes to learn but cannot arrange their schedule with your private lessons, only you receive the benefit of instruction. However, with the software, anyone with a desire to learn piano can take the lessons at any time day or night. It could become quite the family affair, with members learning at their own rate and you being able to compare your results with theirs and even support their efforts along the way.

The only drawback to learning from piano lesson software over a piano instructor in a live session is that you are not able to experience the excitement and enthusiasm of the teacher or learn from their knowledge and understanding of the piano. Observing the sheer joy of performing and expertise of the instructor often pushes students to strive and achieve greater success because they want to achieve the same feeling. You lose out on the touchy-feely aspect of live instruction when you go the software route. - 18423
