King Kong: Addle-brained redo of 1933 classic has incredible potential however dispels all the mythic, bigger-than-life attributes of the primordial with idiotic characters and campy approach. Highly boasted visual effects which made a particular Oscar run hot-and-cold; genuine wonder is Rick Baker in a gorilla outfit. Additional footage amalgamated for network showing. Lange's film debut; Joe Piscopo has a tiny role; look quick for Corbin Bernsen playing a journalist. Dracula: Gloomy retelling of Bram Stoker classic, with Langella's esteemed Broadway characterization lost among hip terror gimmicks and ill-imagined changes in primordial tale. The movie was filmed in England. Cast includes Blunt Langella, Laurence Olivier, Donald Pleasence, Kate Nelligan, Trevor Eve, lanine Duvitski, and Tony Haygarth. (109 minutes, 1958)

American Beauty: Lester Burnham has just about had it with his life. His family has become dysfunctional, and he hates his job. He finally quits his job, and begins to reinvent himself. He is right at the point where things are looking better and tragedy strikes.

Amistad: This film is based on the true story of an unsuccessful mutiny aboard a slave ship in 1839 bound for the US. The subsequent trial would put the entire foundation of the US legal system on trial. Three great men, abolitionist Theodore Joadson, lawyer Roger Baldwin, and former president John Quincy Adams fight for the freedom, and civil rights, of the African slaves.

Lurking Fear: On a hot, sunlit Christmas in Massachusetts, crooks and beast brawlers encounter each other in an old temple, delaying for the beings that live in burrows underneath to make their annual assault. Seedy and tiresome, this appears mole acquired from KEY LARGO than from H. P. Love's tale. Shot in Romania, and looks it. Cast includes Jon Finch, Blake Bailey, Ashley Lanren, Jeffrey Combs, Allison Mackie, Paul Mantee, and Vincent Schiavelli. (76 minutes, 1994)

Airplane 2: Somewhat ludicrous rehash of Airplane (by a new author-director), however it couldn't match the amount, or premium, of chuckles in the first film. Numerous cameos appearances include Raymond Burr, Chuck Connors, and Sonny Bono. Cast includes Robert Hays, Julie Hagerty, Lloyd Bridges, Peter Graves, William Shatner, Chad Everett, and David Paymer. (85 minutes, 1982)

For Richer or Poorer: Very wealthy New Yorkers Allen and Alley, whose matrimony is on the stones, are made to take it on the lam while they're implicated of tax fraud and hide out on an Amish farm, where they make believe to be blood brothers of farmer Sanders. Ruined and lethargic, they're made to do tough, truthful work, and essentially materialize to like it. Cast includes Tim Allen, Kirstie Alley, Jay O. Sanders, Michael Lerner, Carrie Preston, and Katie Moore. (115 minutes, 1997)

The Devil's Advocate: Kevin Lomax has never lost a case. He then gets an offer to move to New York, and work for John Milton, at his prestigious firm. Once there, things start to very strange. As time goes on he comes to realize that John Milton is none other than the Devil himself.

Any Given Sunday: Tony D'Amato, coach of the NFL Miami Sharks, is a typical old school coach. The new age players are all about the money and fame. He struggles with them to become a team, and make a run at a championship.
