Various of the best children's films have been adapted from splendid children's writing. Dearly loved family books that have stood the test of time often make fantastic children's movies. Most of these films are good on their own but a inquiry is how strongly do the films stick to the storyline of the book?
In 2008, "The Spiderwick Chronicles" by Holly Black and Tony DiTerlizzi was made into a film. There are five books in the book sequence but only one movie has been completed so far. It follows the adventure of a family of kids who find a odd book in their new home that leads them into a world filled with trolls and goblins, elves, dwarves and other creatures.
The dearly loved kids book "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" by Roald Dahl was first in print in 1964. The animated rendering follows the account unerringly. Nevertheless, in the year 2000, "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" the live action edition came out with Jim Carrey in the lead role as the Grinch. In that movie many new events and scenes were added. In the 2003 version of "The Cat and the Hat" also by Dr. Seuss, liberties were again taken and the storyline was added to with events and scenes not found in the book.
