By Tammy D Sanders

The James Bond 007 movies are the highest money-wise lucrative English language movie franchise to date. The English novelist Ian Fleming developed James Bond 007 in 1953. Mr. Bond was featured in twelve novels and two short story collections. The movie franchise began with "Dr. No" in 1962.

Ian Fleming died in 1964, though that was not the conclusion of the novels featuring James Bond. Kingsley Amis, writing as Robert Markham, John Pearson, Raymond Benson, John Gardner and Sebastian Faulks, wrote consequent James Bond novels. Moreover, Christopher Woods novelized two screenplays and assorted other writers' authored unauthorized versions of the character.

There have been 22 movies in the James Bond franchise to date, the most up-to-date being "Quantum of Solace" that was released October 31, 2008. The first motion picture was "Dr. No", from the year 1962.

All through the years an assortment of actors have portrayed the lead character of James Bond. Sean Connery is considered to be the original James Bond. He was Bond in 6 unique movies, starting with the first "Dr. No" in 1962, followed by "From Russia With Love" in 1963, "Goldfinger" from 1964, "Thunderball" in 1965, "You Only Live Twice" in 1967 and "Diamonds Are Forever" from 1971.

In 1969 "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" came out with an actor named George Lazenby in the chief part. Of all the actors to portray Bond, Mr. Lazenby was the only one who simply acted in one movie. In 1971, Sean Connery returned for "Diamonds Are Forever".

The next performer to portray Bond acted in 7 movies. Roger Moore was James Bond in 1973 for "Live and Let Die", 1974 for "The Man with the Golden Gun", in 1977 "The Spy who Loved Me", from 1979 "Moonraker", "For Your Eyes Only" in 1981, "Octopussy" in 1983 and the very last motion picture to star Roger Moore as Bond was "A View to a Kill" in 1985.

Timothy Dalton was next for "The Living Daylights" in 1987 and "License to Kill" in 1989. After just two movies with Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan took over the chief part in "Goldeneye" in 1995. We enjoyed 3 further films with Pierce Brosnan, "Tomorrow Never Dies" in 1997, "The World Is Not Enough" in 1999 and "Die Another Day" in 2002.
