A Few Precise Motion Picture Summaries To See

By Travis Jordan

It used to be that you had to go to the video store to get a movie. Now, with internet usage exploding, movie downloads are becoming very popular. Just about any movie every made can be attained through a movie download site now. Check out these samples.

Eragon: Eragon is a poor young boy trying to help keep his family fed. When he finds a shiny blue stone he thinks it might bring food to the tables. The stone turns out to be an egg, a dragon egg. Eragon and this dragon were destined to be together. Now they will go on great adventures together.

Black Rain: New York detectives Nick Conklin and Nick Vincent capture a killer who is part of the Japanese Mafia. Upon escorting him back to Japan, he escapes. With the assistance of the Tokyo police they try and track this killer down. They find themselves being pulled deep into the world of the Japanese Mafia.

Mac and Me: Sort of an E.T. copy in reference to Mac, an outer space being, and his plight in suburban L.A. It is more of a television advertisement than a film. There's a production number set in a McDonald's, and the alien lives on Coca-Cola. Cast includes Christine Ebersole, Jonathan Ward, Katrina Caspary, Lauren Stanley, and Jade Calegory. (93 minutes,'88)

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang: A kid's musical in regards to a flying automobile is one wacky journey, with entirely forgettable score and some of the shoddiest visual effects ever. This is loosely based on novel by Ian Fleming. Cast includes Dick VanDyke, Sally Ann Howes, Lionel Jeffiies, Gert Frobe, Anna Quayle, and Benny Hill. (142 minutes,'68)

The Good Shepherd: Clutching tale of a spiritually censored youthful guy who is enlisted at Yale to do espionage work throughout WW2 and then to join the secret intelligence agency that would eventually become the CIA, even though it means an astronomical sacrifice to his family life. Damon is phenomenal and a well selected cast fills all the roles very well. Cast includes Matt Damon, Angelina Jolie, Alec Baldwin, Tammy Blanchard, Billy Crudup, Robert De Niro, and John Turturro. (167 minutes, 2006)

The Jackie Robinson Story: Simple bio of Robinson, the first black man to play Major League Baseball. Captivating as a historical story; pointed in its presentation of the racial issues engaged. Interestingly, Robinson's Negro League ball club is named the Black Panthers! Dee plays Robinson's spouse. The movie is depicted by Brock Peters. Cast includes Jackie Robinson, Red Dee, Little Watson, Louise Beavers, Richard Aisle, Harry Shannon, Ben Lessy, and Joel Fuellen. (76 minutes,'50)

Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band: Try to link melodies from The Beatles' classic album into some kind of tale line just doesn't work; patterns range from reasonable to humiliating. As to The Bee Gees performing ability, well let's just say that they are not the Beatles. Cast includes Peter Frampton, The Bee Gees, George Bums, Sandy Farina, and Steve Martin. (111 minutes,'78)

Bed Book and Candle: A John Van Druten play turns into so-so platform to showcase Novak as a sorceress who charms soon to be married Manhattan publisher Stewart. Kovacs and Gingold show off their comedic capabilities. Cast includes James Stewart, Kim Novak, Jack Lemmon, Janice Rule, Ernie Kovacs, Hermione Gingold, and Elsa Lanchester. (103 minutes,'58)

Agnes of God: A youthful nun evidently became pregnant, then killed the baby in the cloistered environment of a convent. The court assigned psychiatrist finds no simple answers. Upsetting, not unconditionally pleasing, although electrified by 3 brilliant performances, and beautifully photographed by Sven Nykvist. Cast includes Jane Fonda, Anne Bancroft, Meg Tilly, Anne Pitoniak, Winston Reckert, and Gratien Gelinas. (98 minutes,'85)
