Macao: Flat yam allegedly set in gloomy title port, with Russell a singer and Mitchum the action-desiring guy she loves. Cast includes Robert Mitchum, Jane Russell, William Bendix, Gloria Grahame, and Thomas Gomez. (80 minutes, 1952)
Candyman: Helen Lyle is a University of Illinois student looking for ideas for her thesis on urban legends.. She becomes interested in the Candyman legend. Candyman was a son of slaves who died at the hand of a hired gang sent to kill him because he got a girl pregnant. They set angry bees loose on him, and then was burnt to death. The legend states that if you say his name 5 times in front of a mirror, Candyman comes to life. Candyman does appear, and Helen finds herself in big trouble.
Live Fetish: Infatuated child of a prostitute is incarcerated for unintentionally shooting and paralyzing a cop throughout. Originally beaming story of man teenager's identity emergency gets to be ponderous while it turns into a mom -child soap opera with incestuous implications. Cinematically stimulating, albeit, with a bravura finale. Cast includes Pedro Almodovar, Liberto Rabal, Francesca Neri, Javier Bardem, Angela Molina, Jose Sancho, and Penelope Cruz.
