The Great Man Votes: Straightforward, authentic, admirable film of Barrymore, once a professor, now a divorced man, quarreling for custody of his youngsters. Cast includes John Barrymore, Peter Holden, Virginia Weidler, Donald MacBride, and William Demarest. (112 minutes, 1939)

Prophecy: Classical musician and her physician spouse quarrel over what appears to be gigantic salami in upstate Maine after mercury infecting turns animals into large mutants and worse. Ludicrous terror film is excellent for a few chuckles. Cast includes Talia Shire, Robert Foxworth, Armand Assante, Richard Dysart, and Victoria Racimo. (95 minutes, 1979)

Each Dawn I Die: Journalist Cagney is framed, and sent to the penitentiary where he meets a tough inmate, Raft. There is excellent acting all around. Cagney hits a white-hot summit with his role, however last half of film gets to be outrageously implausible. Music score by Max Steiner. Cast includes James Cagney, George Raft, George Bancroft, Jane Bryan, Maxie Rosenbloom, Stanley Ridges, Louis Jean Heydt, Abner BiOOrman, John Wray, Victor Jory, and Thurston Chamber. (92 minutes, 1939)

Strange Behavior: This shocker in regards to a grisly murder in a tiny Midwestern town (shot in New Zealand!) got inexplicably excellent reviews in numerous places. You wonder what all the excitement was in reference to. Cast includes Michael Murphy, Louise Fletcher, Dan Shor, Fiona Lewis, Arthur Dignam, Scott Brady, and Charles Aisle. (98 minutes, 1981)

The Great McGinty: Sturges' directorial debut (and Oscar winning screenplay) isn't up to his later comedy classics, however Donlevy is phenomenal as the bum who is put into the governor's chair by crooked partisans and then blows it all while he tries to be truthful. Cast includes Brian Donlevy, Muriel Angelus, Akim Tamiroff, Allyn Joslyn, and Louis Jean Heydt. (81 minutes, 1940)

Reptilicus: The tail of a prehistoric beast, recently found, spawns into the whole animal. Only excellent for a few laughs as script hits every possible beast film stereotype, right to the very last shot. The picture was filmed in Denmark. Cast includes Carl Ottosen, Ann Smyrner, Mimi Heinrich, Asbjom Andersen, and Marla Behrens. (90 minutes, 1962)

The Age of Innocence: In 1870s NY, welI-bred youthful guy (DayLewis), who plans to wed well bred youthful female (Ryder), is infatuated by infamous beauty (Pfeiffer) with a notorious background and a self sufficient soul. Sumptuous adaptation of Edith Wharton's Pulitzer Prize novel in reference to censored sentiments in a close minded world. Cast includes Daniel DayLewis, Michelle Pfeiffer, Winona Ryder, Richard E. Grant, Alec McCowen, Geraldine Chaplin, Mary Beth Hurt, Miriam Margolyes, Sian Phillips,' Michael Gough, Alexis Smith, Norman Lloyd, Jonathan Pryce, Robert Sean Leonard, and Carolyn Farina depicted by Joanne Woodward. (133 minutes, 1993)

The General: Boorman inscribed this personality research of a ture story about a Dublin felon known as the General, who avoided being captured for years. Following his own skewed set of morals, he masterminds robberies both big and small, refuses to trust anyone, cherishes 2 ladies simultaneously, and matches brains with a tough nosed cop (Voight) who is decided to catch him. Cast includes Brendan Gleeson, Jon Voight, Adrian Dunbar, Sean McGinley, Maria Doyle Kenoedy, Angeline Ball, and Eamonn Owens. (124 minutes, 1998)

Mother: Sad youthful female who lives with her mom plans to carry out suicide. Her mommy invests the day trying to keep her from doing it. Well performed, prompted, and revised, although still just a stage drama. Cast includes Sissy Spacek and Anne Bancroft. (96 minutes, 1986)
