Learn to play the piano today!

By Lynn Lopez

Being able to play a musical instrument is always a fun and interesting talent; not everyone can claim to be skilled in one, two, let alone three musical instruments. Even being good with just one instrument can be a stretch for some people already. If you're hoping to learn how to play an instrument, why not try to learn to play the piano? It's a fairly easy instrument to learn on, and all the notes you need to know are already laid out neatly in front of you. Even if you've never played before, surely at some point, you must have sat down in front of one, pressed the keys, and been mesmerized by the rich notes produced by the piano

The piano can appear fairly intimidating, but with a little time and help, you'll come to see it as a familiar friend. Can you see yourself giving an impromptu recital during a party, or amazing your friends and family who had no idea that you were the least bit musically inclined. That should give you enough of a push to finally go for it and learn to play the piano.

To start learning how to play the piano, then the first thing you need to do is sign yourself up for some lessons. You can look in the Yellow Pages or ask people you know if they can point you to anyone who offers private piano lessons or if there are any music schools in your town. Bear in mind that you will have to find a teacher you can get along with and whose services will suit your budget; many instructors charge astronomical fees. Taking piano lessons will also require you to go the the instructor's house, to the music school, or have the instructor come over to your place once a week.

If you don't feel comfortable with this setup, you can always take online piano lessons. There are numerous online lessons available now, and all you need to do is find the right courses. You can also look at video lessons posted on YouTube, which will help you become more familiar with the keyboard. Look into piano software as well if you want to have total control over your piano-learning schedule. These programs are available for any piano player of any skill level, from beginner to advanced.

Once you've selected a course you're sure you can stick to, you should remember that learning to play the piano takes time and a lot of practice. Pour all your heart into the music and you'll soon be playing like a pro! - 18423
