1. Get Super Focused And Decide On Your Genre BEFORE You Do Anything- I cant tell you how many times I have mentored artist that are all over the place. Let's face it, most likely you are really talented and can knock out styles in Rap, Hip-Hop, POP etc.. The goal is to be lazer and focus all your energy in one tight track to get it done quickly and move on the next. You don't want to be stuck in the studio all hours of the night because you have developed the discipline needed to complete one thing at a time.
2. Design With A Major Artist in Mind - Think of a known artist that you would want to make your beats for. For example, if you choose pop, what major pop artist would you want singing to your beats? Try to visualize that artist and their particular style on your beat. This will make your pop beat-making experience a whole lot easier.
3. Listen To Their Songs - If your not already very familiar with that particular artists music, listen to some of their songs. Learn their style; get a feel for the type of beats they most often use.
