Learn Acoustic Guitar

By Payo W Perry

Now days if you wish to learn acoustic guitar you'll find many sites on the web offering instruction and guidance.

Above all else, the question most asked is how long will it take me to learn acoustic guitar? Actually, there are three very important aspects which will decide the answer...

What kind of aptitude do you have for learning the instrument? Is the system or website you're using to learn acoustic guitar of high quality? How much regular practice are you doing?

Taking question one first, all of us have unique learning rates for everything we could attempt to master including guitar. This is called your aptitude for the instrument and it's as natural to you as your eye colour. When you start to learn acoustic guitar you'll find out if your aptitude is average, above average or below average. Whatever your aptitude is however, you can play guitar with enough practice and time.

The next important consideration is what system you are using to learn acoustic guitar. Please be aware from the outset that not all methods to learn guitar are equally good. If you choose an out of date and old fashioned method it could slow your progress by months and even result in your failure.

Luckily there are a few sites out there which do understand properly how beginners learn acoustic guitar. Utilise the instruction from one of these and it will give you the best chance of success.

Lastly we must not forget practice! The key to practice is regularity and this means doing a little bit each day instead of 2 hours on Sunday and nothing for the rest of the week. To learn acoustic guitar you must make contact with the instrument for a short while each day.

Learning the shapes of the chords and the strumming rhythms is not difficult, in fact you only need a small selection of chords (about 10) and strums (about 3) to play lots of the songs you hear everyday on the radio or in your CD/MP3 library.

To learn acoustic guitar, a basic set of strums and chords will normally take 4 weeks assuming your of average ability for learning guitar. You should be starting to play your first songs by that time. For some, being able to strum along to favourite songs will be enough but obviously some will want to progress more and more into advanced techniques.

In the beginning stages you will find certain aspects of playing quite difficult, even impossible! But even the most accomplished players once started as complete beginners and with time, as you learn acoustic guitar, every obstacle now will eventually become effortless.

To learn acoustic guitar means practice, practice, practice. - 18423
