The Defiant - A preoccupying account of 2 fugitive convicts, one black and one white who are chained together as they escape from prison in the South. Excellent performances by Williams and Chaney as individuals they meet during the voyage. Academy Prize for screenplay by Harold Jacob Smith and Nathan E. Above the Law - This is Steven Segal's breakout movie. He plays a Chicago Cop who takes matters into his own hands. As the title implies, he is 'above the law'. He uses his large body and martial arts skills to inflict destruction on the bad guys. Stars include Steven Segal, Pam Grier, and Sharon Stone. 1988 Action.

Sugar Town - Amusing variety of LA life characterizing a handful of characters whose lives come together - a musician aspirant who will do anything to get ahead, an uptight lone woman who allures the inappropriate men like a magnet, and a band made up of cleaned-up '80s rock stars, to name a few. Made on a shoestring, although astute and well recognized; superb cast comprises a variety of actual musicians. Cast includes Ally Sheedy, Rosanna Arquette, John Taylor, Jade Gordon, Michael Des Barres, Lucinda Jenney, and Martin Kemp. 92 minutes, 1999.

Thunderheart - There have been a number of killings on the Sioux Indian Reservation. The FBI goes in to take care of the situation. One agent, Ray Levoi, has Sioux blood. As he investigates the case he soon realizes there is much more going on than some accidental killings.

Uncle Buck - Cindy Russell must drop in on her ill dad. Her lone option for someone to take care of her kids is wonderful old Uncle Buck. Foolish Buck has to someway pull himself together and take care of the children for a couple of days.

In God We Trust - Uninformed friar Feldman takes off to Los Angeles. to create money for his monastery. This movie is a comedy that is unfortunately unfunny starring Richard Pryor, who plays God. Cast includes Marty Feldman, Peter Boyle, Louise Lasser, Richard Pryor, Andy Kaufman, Wilfrid Hyde-White, and Severn Darden. 97 minutes, 1984.

The Beverly Hillbillies - This is a movie based on the 1960's TV series. When Jed Clampett unintentionally finds oil on his farm land in Arkansas, he becomes an instant millionaire. He brings the entire Clampett kin out to Beverly Hills. Being down-to-earth country folk they are prey to every money hungry con artist in the big city.

Clue - Silly and insipid whodunit based on the popular board game of the same name with all the identifiable characters Mrs. Peacock, Colonel Mustard, Miss Red, et al. gathered for a murderous day in a Victorian mansion. Everyone tries very hard but there is nothing they can do to save this weak film. Cast includes Eileen Brennan, Tim Curry, Madeline Kahn, Christopher Lloyd, Michael McKean, Martin Ponder, and Howard Hesseman. 87 minutes, 1985. - 18423
