Some Useful Movie Outlines To See

By Etta Parks

It wasn't that long ago that a trip to the corner video shop was the most convenient way to get a movie. Now, with internet usage exploding, movie downloads are becoming very popular. You will find just about any movie you want with a good movie download site. Below is a small sample.

The Curse of the Cat People: Follow-up to Cat People builds remarkable environment in this tale of a lonely girl who summons up a vision of Simon, her dad's bizarre first spouse. Cast includes Gunther von Fritsch, Robert Prudent, Simone Simon, Kent Smith, Jane Randolph, Ann Carter, and Julia Dean. (70 minutes, 1944)

Spungen: Director Cox accomplishes a masterful level of a documentary-reality. He then laces it with metaphorical fantasy icons, with striking outcomes. At the center of the film are two incredible performances by Goldman and Webb, who don't appear to be acting at all: They are Sid and Nancy. The movie is a downer, to be certain, however captivating. (105 minutes, 1969)

Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band: Try to link melodies from The Beatles' classic album into some kind of tale line just doesn't work; patterns range from reasonable to humiliating. As to The Bee Gees performing ability, well let's just say that they are not the Beatles. Cast includes Peter Frampton, The Bee Gees, George Bums, Sandy Farina, and Steve Martin. (111 minutes, 1978)

Act of the Heart: A religious based film that deals with religion and people who become obsessed with it. A young lady falls in love with a priest in the Catholic Church with obvious difficulties to follow. Stars include Genevieve Bujold, Donald Sutherland, Bill Mitchell, and Monique Leyrac. (1970 Canadian-drama directed by Paul Almond)

Outbreak: deadly virus has hit Cedar Creek, California. Highly transferable, in a short time the virus is spreading fast. The other problem, once infected you have less than 24 hours to live. The virus must be contained, so people are sequestered if they are near the outbreak areas.

8 Percent Women: While a triumphant businessman is widowed, his child tries to help him through his misery by taking him on a sensual odyssey. The females range from a prior nun Collette to a horsewoman (Plummer) who wears a weird see through harness. Copious nudity couldn't keep this from being a massive bore. Cast includes John Sitting, Matthew Delamere, Vivian Wu, Shizuka lnoh, Barbara Sarafian, Manna Fujiwara, and Polly Stroller. (121 minutes, 1999)

Wyatt Earp: The story of Wyatt Earp, legendary gunman in the west. Wyatt Earp lived from 1848-1929 and roamed the western frontier towns of America. He was one of the key players at the famous gunfight and the OK corral. Wyatt survived that day, and then hunted down the rest of the bad guys.

Say It Isn't So: Pleasantly un-ambitious Klein falls for the new hairdresser in town Graham only to find out (after having sex with her) that she's his sister! Cast includes Heather Graham, Chris Klein, Orlando Jones, Sally Field, Richard Jenkins, John Rothman, Brent Briscoe, and Sarah Silverman. (96 minutes, 1988)

No Name on the Bullet: A calm and cultured gunman rides into a little town to take somebody out. This film carries a simple and classic Western plot. Cast includes Audie Murphy, Charles Drake, Joan Evans, Virginia Grey, Warren Stevens, R. G. Armstrong, Willis Bouchey, Karl Swenson, Charles Watts, and Jerry Paris. (77 minutes, 1959)
