2009: Remastered Beatles in Stereo Box Set
The Beatles in Stereo Remastered CD Set was made available on September 9th of 2009 it immediately became the standard for The Beatles legendary albums.
These new stereo versions sound far superior to the old CDs from the 1980s. When comparing the remastered CDs to the older discs it's like the old discs are under a pile of blanks while the new remastered CDs sound crystal clear so that all of the vocals, guitar parts, bass guitar parts, and drums punch through the mixes instead of being muffled.
The Beatles in Stereo Remastered CD Box Set isn't the only box set by The Beatles that came out in '09 but it is the most popular since it can be enjoyed by the widest range of Beatles fans. The Beatles Mono Box Set is excellent too but it appeals mostly to hardcore fans who need to listen to the original mono mixes (because that's how most fans in the'60s heard this music) than to an classic rock fan. While I will agree with the "purists" that there are some songs that sound better in mono than in stereo (especially many of the pre 1967 songs in my opinion) all things considered I think the stereo CD set does sound best.
The great thing about The Beatles in Stereo Remastered Box Set is that it allows you to buy The Beatles complete 60s discography with just one purchase and considering the high quality of all of their CDs, it makes sense to get all of The Beatles albums at once instead of ordering some of them and getting the rest later.
Beyond the fantastic songs included in this box set there are some groovy visual bits, the- mini documentary (for each studio album) DVD is the most obvious. Along with this 50 minute DVD there are extended liner notes for each album (there is some good stuff in these notes, especially for fans who are new to the group) and some great unpublished photographs.
I am such a big Beatles fan that I've bought (or I plan on ordering) The Beatles in Stereo Set, The Beatles in Mono Box, The Beatles USB Memory Stick, and The Beatles Rock Band Game. But if I had to choose only one of these items, it would be the complete stereo box because it's the best hear their legendary music and of course, it's their influential albums that is the most important. - 18423
