Alakazam the Great: Japanese-made animation is excellent for entertaining the kids. The tale is focused around the supernatural baboon's ambitious ventures, from a bullfight in the pit of a volcano to a mythical battle with Hercules. The Music of Chance: A thriller in regards to telepathic, suicidal Ivanek, powerless to command his powers, who moves his bad dreams to psychiatrist Harrold and causes chaos in a clinic. La Promesse: Harrowing story of a boy being brought up by a dad who ruthlessly capitalizes on, unlawful immigrants as their assumed savior, and master. Trouble starts while the boy, who unconditionally obeys his dad unquestioningly, creates a bond with one of the illegal immigrants. Moving in its understated, we watch a young boy struggle with tough ethical issues. Cast includes Jeremie Renier, Olivier Gourmet, Assita Ouedraogo, and Rasmane Ouedraogo. (93 minutes, 1996)
The Truman Show: Truman Burbank starts to get a strange feeling. He can't quite explain it, but something just isn't right. It turns out that Truman is right. In fact everyone else in town is an actor, and every day is The Truman Show.
Far and Away: A scrappy Irish occupant farmer hooks up, in doubtful style, with the comparably feisty daughter of a prosperous landowner, and together they travel to America to seek their final fate in the 1893 Oklahoma land rush. Superlative platform for Tom and Nicole, who are both attractive and involving; the problem is a drastic absence of good dialogue to fill the gaps between fight scenes. Cast includes Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman, Thomas Gibson, Robert Prosky, Barbara Babcock, Cohn Meaney, and Rance Howard. (140 minutes, 1992)
La Provinciale: Exceptional venture fantasy in reference to an orphan gal who is chased by sky pirates and a malevolent government representative who wants to get their hands on the supernatural quartz that permits her to float and also keeps the secret to finding a treasure, a full island in the clouds. Stunning visuals, exhilarating set pieces and gripping characters make this a masterpiece of action film making; energized or otherwise, empowering a real sense of amazement. Cast includes Anna Paquin, Cloris Leachman, Mark Hamill, Mandy Patinkin, and Andy Dick. (124 minutes, 1986)
XXX: Xander 'XXX''Cage has been brought in by NSA agent Gibbons to help him with an urgent matter. He must help the MSA bring down a Russian crime ring, or face jail time. Agent Gibbons needs an unknown person with incredible skill and talent to get inside the organization. Is XXX the right man for the job?
They Won't Believe Me: This is about a philanderer who becomes engaged with 3 females, leading to calamity and a tremendous twist ending. Young succeeds in his unsympathetic role; Johnson does marvels with her scenes as his spouse.
