A Sampling Of Brief Hollywood Movie Story Lines To Go Over

By Wendy Snow

It used to be that you had to go to the video store to get a movie. As technologies have advanced, downloading dvds off movie download sites is becoming very common. You can get virtually any movie you want with a good movie download site. Here are some examples.

Black Fury: Hard hitting melodrama in reference to exploitation of coal miners, with Muni as a strong "hunk" who gets in over his head. Practical, and remarkably filmed, but it's a tad choppy. Muni's accent makes it hard to comprehend him at times. Cast includes Paul Muni, Karen Morley, William Gargan, Barton MacLaue, John Qualen, J. Carrol Naish, and Vince Barnett. (92 minutes, 1935)

Sullivan's Travels: Sick of making fluff, film director McCrea plans to do a serious film. Dry and grief mix seamlessly sick this landmark Hollywood satire, which grows more relevant with each passing year. Cast includes Joel McCrea, Veronica Pool, Robert Warwick, William Demarest, Margaret Hayes, Al Bridge, and Franklin Pangborn. (90 minutes, 1942)

The Born Losers: What appeared at the time just some other biker film attained new interest in the '70s as the inception of Billy Jack; he helps free youthful dropout James from the grips of Slate's gang. Excellent action scenes, although Laughlin's use of brutality as an arraignment of bloodshed is already present. Cast includes Cast includes Tom Laughlin, Elizabeth James, Jeremy Slate, and William Wellman. (112 minutes, 1967)

Sleepy Hollow: It is the year 1779, and a young policeman from New York has been sent off to the small town of Sleep Hollow to investigate the disturbing deaths of three men, who were found with their heads chopped off, and the heads all missing. There is a legend of an axe carrying, headless horseman that roams the woods of Sleepy Hollow. Does he really exist?

Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band: Try to link melodies from The Beatles' classic album into some kind of tale line just doesn't work; patterns range from reasonable to humiliating. As to The Bee Gees performing ability, well let's just say that they are not the Beatles. Cast includes Peter Frampton, The Bee Gees, George Bums, Sandy Farina, and Steve Martin. (111 minutes, 1978)

Aces High: Aces High is a British war film that deals with WWI. There are exiting dogfights with WWI planes. We follow a pilot's view of this war as he is lead by a disheartened squad leader. Malcolm McDowell, Christopher Plummer, Simon Ward, and Peter Firth star. (1976 Military)

The Defiant: A preoccupying tale of 2 escaped convicts, one black and one white who are chained together as they escape from prison in the South. Fine performances by Williams and Chaney as individuals they meet during the voyage. Academy Prize for screenplay by Harold Jacob Smith and Nathan E. Cast includes Tony Curtis, Sidney Poitier, Theodore Bike, Charles McGraw, Carnie Williams, and Lon Chaney, Jr. (97 minutes, 1958)

The Incredible Gentleman: A well known and beloved Television megastar dies and Ferrer disposes his commemoratory show, only to find the megastar was a disgraceful fake. Al Morgan adjusted Morgan's thinly veiled novel in regards to Arthur Godfrey. Cast includes Jose Ferrer, Dean Jagger, Keenan Wynn, Julie London, Jim Backus, and Ed Wynn. (92 minutes, 1956)

A Good Woman: Strange rendition of Oscar Wilde's Woman Windermere's Fan, which has been filmed a few times over the years, set in Italy instead of England and updated from the 1890s to the 1930s. A number of Wilde's British characters now are Americans. Cast includes Helen Seek, Scarlett Johansson, Milena Vukotic, Stephen Campbell Moore, Mark Umbers, Tom Wilkinson, and Diana Hardcastle. (93 minutes, 2005)

Remember, be creative and use phrases like "Download New Movie". If that one doesn't work try another one. "Movies Rentals" would be worth a try. - 18423
