They Only Kill Their Masters: Incredible cast in difficult modem-night whodunit set in coastal California town; tries for Daniel Hammett sensation, doesn't relatively make it. Cop Garner tries to solve slaughter of pregnant female, with formidable Doberman pinscher computing prominently. Not poor, however a disappointment. It turns out that the central analysis computer has deemed the actions of the government as against the people. The computer is taking action.
Mystery Alaska: Remote Alaskan town's hockey team is given the possibility to play contrary to the virtuoso N.Y. Rangers as a notoriety stunt. A hodgepodge of characters and an unavoidable large-game finale, combined with derivative storylines, demonstrate that David E. Kelley who co-scripted and co-produced should stick to Television. Crowe is the only one to ascend above the material. Cast includes Russell Crowe, Burt Reynolds, Hank Azaria, Mary McCormack, Lolita Davidovich, Mike Myers, and Little Richard. (118 minutes, 1999)
